Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC), located at the Technology Park in Kihei, Maui, Hawai’i. Telework (from employee’s residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.

DUTIES:
• Supports requirements analysis, applications design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance at the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC).
• The software solutions may range from Internet programming to the development of client/server applications, integration and deployment of applications, and machine and user interface designs using various technologies.
• Responsible for source code control using git, technical documentation (including design and functional specs).
• Participates in design review, code reviews, and troubleshooting.
• Provides status to the Software Development Lead on regular basis.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Computer Science, Math, Science, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience and training and ability to demonstrate competence to perform job duties.
EXPERIENCE:
• Three to five (3-5) years of experience in software engineering, application development, and integration.
• Experience includes one to three (1-3) years of programming experience in JAVA within an enterprise environment.
ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:
• Expert knowledge of the principles and application of object-oriented programming, debugging, testing, software lifecycle, and high-level understanding of configuration control, database design and implementation.
• Proficient knowledge of AWS, Java, SQL (PostgreSQL), JSON, REST APIs and Swagger, and JUnit.
• Strong knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and software configuration management.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to analyze and understand complex systems.
• Strong attention to detail, and passion for deploying quality products, and the ability to communicate with personnel from a variety of disciplines and technical levels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand object-oriented design and programming with demonstrated expertise in Java and related environments.
• Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong knowledge of Linux environment, Eclipse or VS Code, and GIS services (ESRI’s ArcGIS map and image services preferred).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Python preferred).
