We are seeking an experienced CTO to join the existing engineering team. This is a boots-on-the-ground role requiring hands-on daily engineering tasks firstly but also strategic management tasks, owning the tech roadmap and managing resources through future funding rounds.
You must have previous experience in these 3 key areas:
- Field management of hardware devices (uptime, monitoring, performance, etc.)
- SaaS products (ideally you've lead a team through a GTM strategy that you helped to create)
- Have lead at least one funding round in a key top management engineering role
We are fully remote but you must be based in the SF Bay Area/Silicon Valley.
Must be able to commit to full-time to start
We are focused in the consumer pet market, selling pet related safety services to pet owners. We are far past the 'idea' phase and almost ready to launch (1-3 months). Our goal is to become the household name in the category and become an anchor brand. We've spent years researching the issue and talking with hundreds of pet owners and peripheral partners before building anything.
- We are currently bootstrapped, pre-revenue and pre-funding
- To start, this role is equity only - we will seek funding within 3 months
- We have an office based in San Carlos
- We have custom hardware designed, tested, patented and manufactured is GTM ready
THE ROLE:
You will lead the release build with the support of the founder. Together you'll spec the GTM needs for launch. Ideally, you have previous experience and have successfully launched a new consumer service/product from idea/concept to fruition. We are looking for a rock-star team.

ENGINEERING & ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years of professional programming experience
5+ years of professional experience with back applications like Django, AWS, etc. in a JavaScript architecture
Expert experience with MySQL, databases, stored procedures, and functions
Expert experience in building the backend for B2C applications
Expert experience in APIs builds, monitoring and management
Are a strong communicator, both synchronously and asynchronously
Are excited about being a part of (and creating!) an engineering culture that is strong, dynamic and results-oriented
