Join our dynamic team at a small Plaintiff side employment law firm! We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join us! This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with the option to work in our office as well.

As a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, you will have the opportunity to work closely with two experienced attorneys, contributing to meaningful cases in the field of employment law. Your responsibilities will include: conducting legal research, drafting documents, assisting in case preparation, and providing general administrative support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in employment law is highly desirable, but we are also open to candidates with a strong legal background and a passion for this area of law.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in legal research, drafting legal documents, and conducting case analysis.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in document preparation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Self-starter, self-sufficient, productive and takes initiative.

BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

The Candidate provides administrative and legal support to attorneys, as needed.
The Candidate will also perform duties necessary for the firm’s overall operation and perform legal assignments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

▪ Drafts and finalizes legal documents such as pleadings, discovery and motions.
▪ Drafts written correspondence (e.g., letters, memoranda).
▪ Maintains and organizes legal files.
▪ Maintains contact with clients.
▪ Coordinates travel arrangements.
▪ Assists in management of attorneys’ calendars.
▪ Maintains and updates database.
▪ Files documents electronically.
▪ Updates attorneys at least once each day re: status of cases/ongoing projects.
▪ Informs attorneys about meetings set for same day.
▪ Gives reports to attorneys at beginning of shift.
▪ Schedules court reporters for depositions and court hearings.
▪ Schedules CourtCall appearances.
▪ Liaises with attorneys to help delegate inter-office assignments.
▪ Assembles binders, motions and other document compilations for attorneys’ appearances, teleconferences, and meetings several days in advance thereof.
▪ Updates with case status, new parties and counsel, and adds Notes (e.g., court filing instructions, standing orders).
▪ Checks all tentative rulings and apprizes attorneys thereof.
