We are seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to join our team who is also passionate about helping our clients while working well in a busy environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of procedural requirements for different types of family-based petitions. The candidate must be able to multitask and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment while ensuring a high level of productivity, adhering to appropriate deadlines, and promoting teamwork.
The candidate will be assisting the Associate Attorney by preparing cover letters to RFEs, NOIDs, I-290Bs, motions, and legal briefs. Further, candidate will be assisting the Associate Attorney with reviewing FOIAs and preparing legal memorandums.
Bilingual: English/Spanish required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Providing administrative support to lawyer and enhance office effectiveness
*Process complex AOS, waivers, and applications before the EOIR and BIA.
*Analyze case documents and prepare immigration applications for filing with the appropriate government agency
*Coordinate responses to RFEs (Request for Evidence)
*Communicate with clients and obtain documents needed for case management
*Follow internal intake procedures after a client retains our firm
*Make regular updates to our case management system including client information, case tracking information, and client communications
*Maintain hard copy files and documents to support all immigration activity on behalf of clients
*Ensure that clients are kept informed on the progress of their cases
*Complete assignments and communicate case progress/status/issues to supervisors
*Coordinates translations of foreign documents and equivalency evaluations of foreign degrees
*Process DACA renewal applications
*Process Family petitions (I-130, I-485, I-601A, etc.)
*Process U-Visa applications
*Participate fully in meetings, trainings and team building events
*Adhere to the concept of team, aligning to and supporting the firm’s vision, mission, goals and core values
*Additional responsibilities, as directed by management
Skills Required:
*3+ years plus recent experience in immigration law preferred.
*Proven working experience as legal assistant/paralegal
*Experience with USCIS law procedures and protocols, and Immigration court system
*Knowledge of day-to-day operations of a law office
*Computer literacy (Abacus, Word or Word Perfect, Legal Solutions)
*Proficiency in English and Spanish
*Excellent organizational skills
Job Type: Full or Part-time
Pay: $27.00 to $35.00 an hour, Based on Experience.
