JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Billing Supervisor with fiscal oversight from the Finance and Accounting department, the Revenue Cycle Liaison is responsible for the processing and maintenance of all current medical patient accounts. The Revenue Cycle Liaison also provides analytical support to establish and achieve revenue cycle goals and objectives. Using industry guidelines and best practice standards, The Revenue Cycle Liaison supports the optimization of department performance in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to, coding and claims submission and adjudication, and training of staff. Using standard and ad hoc reporting, the Revenue Cycle Liaison identifies opportunities for improvement and procedural enhancement. As a collaborative position, the Revenue Cycle Liaison must work together with front desk staff, physicians, medical assistants, finance, IT staff, and staff from other departments to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of billing for patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as lead trainer for front desk position at all medical, behavioral health, and dental sites.
• Conducts onboarding training for new staff.
• Maintains training up to date and meets with staff on a quarterly basis (more often if needed).
• Collaborate with the Billing Supervisor to ensure front desk procedures comply with appropriate billing processes.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on all front desk receptionists, as it relates to billing practices.
• Provide ongoing communication and documentation to Clinic and Site leadership regarding performance including recognition and areas of improvement.
• Works interdependently with the Finance and Accounting department to maximize patient billing and reporting under all forms of acceptable insurance reimbursement and self-pay.
• Ensure Front Desk functions are conducted according to all Axis policies and procedures including adherence to all HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
• Remain up-to-date regarding all Axis services and maintain close contact with managers of other programs to ensure open communication, consistency of services, and data integrity.
• Provide all services in a manner that is courteous and professional and ensure client confidentiality at all times.
• Responsible for Self Pay accounts and aging as well as work queues.
• Process patient statements and contact patients to arrange payment plans.
• Works with the Billing Supervisor to review Aging for all accounts.
• Assists in any billing projects needed.
• Assists in opening tickets with PM providers when needed.
• Reviews and tests upgrades/enhancements and ensures billing is aware of all changes.
• Serves as a backup/float to other Billing Specialists while out to ensure timely claim submission and follow-up.
• Research and ensure prompt collection from self-pay accounts.
• Monitors patient and staff messaging through the PM system as well as Outlook inbox.
• Responsible for billing extension ensuring voicemails are returned.
• Works with the Billing Supervisor to resolve complex billing issues.
• Adjudicates outside services invoices e.g., Quest Diagnostics and others needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.
• May be required to perform other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
• A minimum of 3 years progressive related experience in a healthcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1 - 2 years in a supervisory role is preferred; experience in performance improvement coaching and team building is a plus.
• Computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel; electronic medical record experience a plus.
• Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.
• Ability to remain calm in crises and the ability to be flexible in a changing work environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop and implement strategies that improve customer service and overall operations.
• Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, and a professional demeanor, and must represent the organization in a positive manner at all times.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
• Must be able to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Must be able to be at work regularly and on time.
• Must be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group setting.
• A can-do attitude, attention to detail, ability to organize and set priorities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must have good computer skills using Microsoft Office and the ability to use Axis departmental systems.
• Must be able to use office equipment (i.e. copier, fax, etc.).

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the individual is required to have ambulatory skills sufficient to visit various parts of the organization. Requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30lbs. Requires sitting and standing for extensive periods of time, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment for extended periods of time. Travel to other Axis health centers and other local travel will be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
