ILS / Direct Support Staff must possess the following minimum qualifications:
• Has high school diploma or GED and least six months of experience working with developmentally disabled who
have behavioral, mental health or forensic challenges.
• Has ability to represent AILP in a professional manner at all times.
• Is fluent in oral and written English.
• Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary
interagency team and cooperatively with diverse external collaborators (Parents, Regional Center Case Managers,
Generic Community Based Programs – IHSS, Section 8)
• Is able to get along with co-workers, Program Manager, Executive Director, Consumers, their parents, conservators
and their Circle of Support
• Is able to lift/transport participant(s) in event of emergency.
• Is able to competently handle crisis situations as determined by written and verbal interviews.
• Is able to attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Respects the cultural and linguistic values of the participants, their parents and their Circle of Support
• Has TB clearance; has current certification in CPR and first aid, has valid California driver's license, clean DMV
printout and current automobile insurance.
• Is able to provide fingerprint clearance.
