Looking for a daytime caretaker to help assist my father (70 years old) with caretaking and companionship responsibilities. He has Parkinsons and some memory and mobility issues. The client uses a walker, and he lives in a beautiful senior assisted living apartment in Pleasanton, California. Just needs assistance transportation to and from Doctor appointments and also accompanying him inside his appt, occasional visits to the next door senior center and with some occasional companionship. My father is a man of faith, fun loving person that likes to be social, chat, and laugh. We are looking for someone who is extremely organized, empathetic, compassionate, and responsible as the role involves some light memory care and companionship.
The job can be part time or full time 35-37 hours a week. See sample schedule of hours below but we are somewhat flexible on the schedule. Just let me know.
Pay is at a fixed rate of $16/ hour through the California Public Authority, In Home Health Services (IHHS).

Responsibilities include:
Companion Services - Provide companionship, safety, and supervision for the client including taking him to activities, discussions, positivity, encouragement, reassurance, helping client stay active (walks as nearby parks and next-door senior center) with reminders and redirection as needed. Assist client with phone, and Alexa device on occasion.
Personal Assistance - Non-medical, hands-on assistance. Tasks may include:
• Medication documentation management and communication liaison between client’s doctor and the assisted living facility. (The staff will dose him but you will keep track of what medications are current)
• Assistance with managing client’s Kaiser health portal for correspondences with the Doctor for appts and reminders.
• Safety checks around the apartment (security, dangerous situations, etc.)
Transportation – Have your own vehicle to drive the client. Will be reimbursed for gas if mileage is tracked and submitted to daughter.
• To and from doctor appts in Stockton, CA, Manteca, CA, and/or Pleasanton, CA.
• Occasional visits to and from his sister’s home to visit in Manteca, CA (1-2 times a week)
• Occasional visits to and from his daughter’s home to visit in San Jose, CA (once a month)
• Errands to nearby grocery store, etc.
Additional duties:
• Maintain excellent and objective ongoing communication with family members (i.e. daughter); respond to phone calls and/or emails in a timely manner.
• Work the scheduled shifts assigned in a timely and consistent manner.
• Clock in consistently and on time the day of the shift through the IHHS system.
• Assure all services and operations are in compliant with the IHHS Rules and regulations. Implement all tasks as instructed to support compliance with IHHS.
• Always maintain confidentiality.
• Maintains a professional relationship with the client and family.
• Notify the client’s daughter of time off requests or availability changes two weeks in advance.
Qualifications:
• Verifiable experience and/or training in providing care for senior or disabled persons.
• A clean background check and drug test upon job offer.
• Registered as a caretaker through IHHS or if not willing to become registered.
• Min High School Graduate
• US citizen
• Preferably CPR Certified
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and physically able to perform the duties required in the job description like light ambulatory assistance due to balance issues.
• A cell phone and current street address on record.
• An accurate employment application and two positive work-related references.
• A driver’s license in good standing, decent driving record (less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years and no serious violations), basic auto insurance, and a reliable car.
• An acceptable criminal background check in every state which you have lived or been employed in.
Typical schedule: If you have a suggested schedule other than below, we are open to being somewhat flexible. Option to work Thursday – Monday or Monday-Friday
Thursday 10am-6pm = 7hours
Friday 10am-6pm = 7hours
Saturday 10am-6pm = 7hours
Sunday 10am-6pm = 7hours
Monday 10am-6pm = 7hours
Total hours 35
