Description

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated care providers to join a care team for Noe, who recently experienced a paraplegic injury due to a motorcycle accident. Noe is in the process of transitioning to independent living in Berkeley, with the support of his mother. The care team will play a crucial role in assisting Noe as he adjusts to his new circumstances and works towards achieving greater independence.

Responsibilities:
As a Care Team Member, you will work collaboratively with Noe, his mother, and other team members to provide comprehensive care and support. Your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting Noe with his daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and other tasks as needed.
- Supporting Noe in his bowel program and self-catheterization, helping him gradually become fully independent.
- Being available to provide standby assistance in lifting as requested during transfers, while Noe primarily works towards independent transfers.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

- Empathy and a strong desire to make a positive impact on Noe's life during his recovery journey.
- Experience in caregiving, particularly for individuals with physical disabilities.
- Familiarity with proper lifting techniques and the ability to provide safe and effective assistance during transfers.
- Strong communication skills to interact with Noe, his mother (a monolingual Spanish speaker), and other team members.
- Ability to work well within a team and foster a collaborative environment.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is a significant advantage

Requirements:
-Certified IHSS worker or willing to become certified (we have a consultant to help you through the process)
- Prior caregiving experience, especially with paraplegic individuals or those with similar disabilities.
- Understanding of Noe's cultural background and willingness to create a comfortable and culturally sensitive environment.
- Availability for approximately 2-3 hours or more per day, with a flexible schedule that includes morning or evening shifts. We are willing to hear preferences and consider them as we build a schedule.
- Willingness to commit to the care team for an initial period of at least 2 months.
- Reliable transportation to Noe's residence in Berkeley.

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive compensation rate. Initial payment will be through private pay arrangements, as there is an anticipated gap with the IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) due to their home assessment process. This arrangement is projected to last for approximately 2 months.
