I’m a woman in my 50’s living with MS in San Rafael. I’m seeking a dependable, organized, and timely live in-caretaker who can help me 4 hours a day with basic daily tasks.
A bit about me:
I’m a funny fast talker who’s passionate about family, friends, food, and film. I have 2 adult daughters who are very much present in my life. I enjoy trips to the movies and museums, I hope you do too!
Your duties:
I use a wheelchair and have limited hand and arm function. As such, I require assistance with eating bathing, toileting, dressing, and maintenance of my apartment. I use a catheter so familiarity with that is helpful but not required. Furthermore, you don’t need to have previous experience with mobility disabilities, but it would be a plus. Helping me transfer to and from my wheelchair can be quickly learned on the job.
The hours I’m looking to cover and their respective duties are:
8-10AM: Help with getting out of bed, getting ready for the day and eating breakfast.
10-11pm: Help with getting ready for bed, and transferring to the bed.
Additionally, I sometimes require assistance in the middle of the night, which makes it imperative that you sleep at the apartment at all times.
You must also have a valid U.S. driver’s license to get me to and from appointments.
Perks:
Living rent free! You’ll be in a spacious and sunny bedroom in San Rafael, and paid $2,250/mo.
You’ll have one day off of your choosing.
I may possibly be able to offer more hours if you’re willing and able.
As you’ll have lots of free time, this arrangement is ideal for folks who are in school part time, writing a dissertation, managing a side hustle, etc.
Finally, you must be willing to register with IHSS. In-Home Health Supportive Services is a program where the State of California pays for care to help elderly and disabled people stay in their homes. The registration process is easy. It involves a background check and fingerprinting. I will pay for those costs. The job does require a Social Security number and willingness to be paid by the State.
