Type: Full-time

JOB DESCRIPTION: A Payroll Clerk to assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation in the company. You will undertake various tasks, such as entering payroll information, calculating wages, and making payments.

An excellent payroll clerk has an understanding of the concept of employee information confidentiality. Data Entry Experience. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with strong communication abilities.

The goal is to carry out all payroll procedures with speed and accuracy.

PAYROLL CLERK: will oversee and supervise payroll functions, certifying that payroll complies with government regulations.

DUTIES: PAYROLL PROCESSING

Certifies accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepares and maintains correct records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, certified prevailing wages prism, and city of San Diego tracking inputting info systems., Wage and hour laws and best practices.

Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including .....
• Accounting software
• must have thorough knowledge in GAAP general accounting principles, payroll tax, prevailing wages
• Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
• knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulations
• Computer savvy
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies
• Handle employee questions and concerns
• Update adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes, etc...
• Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
• Calculate pay according to hours worked, incorporating leave and overtime
• Must stay current with updates and regulations
• Understanding of employee privacy and confidentiality

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient in any payroll software. (We use SAGE, experience is a +\Plus but not a deal-breaker) Must have a thorough understanding of employee privacy and confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Accounting degree (a Plus but Not required)
• Business Administration Associates (a Plus but Not required)
• Or 5 years of related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent: Required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at time.
