IT Budget Analyst/Coordinator (Contract)

Sierra Cybernetics is seeking an Assistant IT Budget Analyst/Coordinator to work for us supporting our Port of Long Beach (POLB) client.

You will provide administrative assistance, analysis and IT task coordination for the Information Management Division.

This position requires in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong communication (including business writing), organization and analytical skills.

Duties
• Works with administrative staff to create drafts of cover memos for review and approval.
• Assist with Division procurements.
• Maintain and update financial vendor remittance information with City Finance Department.
• Creates and tracks purchase orders and tracks invoices.
• Reviews and processes invoices for payment for submittal to accounting.
• Advises inquiring IT vendors regarding status of payment for invoices .
• Creates and maintain spreadsheets tracking vendor and contract costs against budget and authorized spend.
• Interacts with various Division, City Departments, vendors and prospective IT vendors.
• Uses City’s financial systems such as MUNIS and Simpler reports.
• Independently composes memos for routing and signatures.
• Works collaboratively with internal IM functions and external Divisions, vendors, and other key stakeholders across all Divisions.
• Gathers and analyzes data, composes charts and graphs as needed to perform administrative support in preparation of special reports and projects for the Division.
• Organizes, maintain and updates electronic files, documents and records.

Skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and applications such as Microsoft Office
• Attention to detail and able to effectively navigate a high pace environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to organize and plan so workflow is managed efficiently and accurately; must be able take initiative and exercise sound independent judgment
• Ability to effectively manage numerous diverse projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to establish, build and maintain effective customer-focused working relationships with Port employees, managers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and others

Education
• Four-year college degree with major in business administration, public administration, finance, communication, or a related business or technical field. Additional applicable experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Desirable Certification(s)
• • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundational certification.
