FULL CHARGE BOOKKEEPER

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping operations and reporting for internal and fee managed real estate properties of our company. Responsibilities include: Reviewing and auditing the work product of one A/R accounting clerk and one A/P accounting clerk; Manage the bookkeeping activities by performing the following duties:
SALARY RANGE: $38.00-$42.00 per hour. Plus, Vacation accrual and paid holidays. 90 % of Kaiser Medical and a dental plan. Full time 40 hours per week at our San Ramon California office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Prepares, reviews and approves accurate owner disbursements and financial statements monthly
 Prepares owners special financial reports and disbursement requirements
 Reviews property incomes and expenses and brings any discrepancies, problems, or questions to Property Manager’s attention.
 Insures property operating balances in Trust Account are maintained at a positive level at all times.
 Analyzes and organizes financial records, bookkeeping and bookkeeping procedures, preparation of payrolls, personnel, information management, filing systems.
 Reviews clerical and personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
 Issues written and oral instructions. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of workflow and process in office.
 Assists in preparation of annual Common Area Maintenance reconciliations for applicable properties
 Collects all employees time sheets, checks for completeness and accuracy, records and tracks vacation and sick leave, submits payroll information twice monthly to Vice President.
 Reconcile Trust Bank Account and all third-party bank accounts with bank and to GL monthly
 Review monthly mortgage payments and record each “auto-withdrawal” mortgage payments for applicable properties
 Reviews and prepares Property Taxes for all properties twice annually
 Supervise and ensure proper banking procedures and maintain an ongoing relationship with Banking Institutions.
 Respond to property owner’s bookkeeping and accounting needs as required
 Reconcile software issues
 Train A/R and A/P positions in job responsibilities and duties as required
 Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly audits the work product of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience: Full charge bookkeeper. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in accounting or finance; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. Climb stairs. Communicate clearly with others. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
