Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including monthly financial statement preparation, payroll supervision, and managing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Contribute to company-wide profitability and customer satisfaction goals by providing accurate financial information and effective budgeting, payroll, and accounts management.
  • Accurately classify and record all financial transactions to determine company income, expenses, and overall financial condition.
  • Maintain the construction management system, including project setup, budgets, job costs, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and construction progress reports.
  • Establish clear SOPs for accounting processes.
  • Prepare month-end accounting closes, including accruals, recurring entries, cash reconciliation, and other account reconciliations.
  • Assist with year-end financial, tax, and benefit compliance reporting.
  • Summarize and prepare financial status and transaction reports, such as profit and loss and management performance reports.
  • Analyze financial report discrepancies, calculate budget variances, and report significant issues to management.
  • Document fixed asset purchases and depreciation, manage fixed asset budgets, and maintain depreciation schedules.
  • Supervise weekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate taxation and reporting of compensation, fringe benefits, union benefits, garnishments, retirement plan contributions, medical benefits, etc.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Oversee the monthly accounting close and account reconciliation for accurate reporting.
  • Monitor and assist with all tax filings, including quarterly sales tax, payroll taxes, business licenses, W-2's, 1099's, census, and other tax and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the job cost system, including burden rates, work in process schedules, PM performance, and management reports.
  • Monitor subcontractor insurance, subcontracts, work agreements, and lien releases, including supplier lien releases.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in job costing, construction cost accounting, purchase requisition processes and requirements, contract development and management.
  • Experience in supervising general accounting staff and functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in Vista and HCSS software applications preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional time management and organizational skills, setting priorities, multitasking, and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Skilled in motivating, training, and supervising accounting staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
