Tandem, Partners in Early Learning is looking for a new Community Learning Specialist (CLS) to join our Contra Costa County team. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the StoryCyles and Early Learning Everywhere programs for the Contra Costa team. The CLS will manage a caseload of classrooms, facilitate workshops for families and educators, lead playgroups and Read Aloud demonstrations for children, and build relationships with early childhood educators and family-serving organizations across Contra Costa county. Additionally, the CLS will participate in organization-wide learning and collaboration, and will represent Tandem at community events and literacy fairs in Contra Costa county.

Who You Are
● Deeply committed to social justice and education as a tool for liberation
● Knowledgeable about early childhood education
● Experienced in facilitating workshops, speaking publicly, or teaching adults in formal and informal settings
● Able to present information to racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse audiences in Spanish and English
● Able to prioritize tasks, juggle competing demands and take initiative on independent projects
● Proficient with MS-Office (e.g., Word, PPT), Google Workspace tools (e.g., Doc, Sheets, Slides), and Zoom
● Willing and able to learn new software and online platforms (training will be provided)
● Hold a current and valid California Driver’s License, insurable driving record, and access to an insured vehicle (mileage and parking reimbursement will be provided by Tandem)
● Possess a clear background history with no barriers to working with children.

Additional preferred qualifications include:
● Experience living and/or working in Contra Costa
● Experience building partnerships with educators and/or communities in Contra Costa

Physical Requirements for the Role
This position is primarily located in an office environment. Able to meet the following requirements with or without accommodation:

● Up-to-date immunizations (specifically COVID-19, Measles and Pertussis, as well as annual flu vaccinations, and TB screenings every 4 years)
● Clear speaking voice to deliver program content
● Ability to operate a computer to create and update documents
● Ability to sit/stand for duration of 8-hour shift
● Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate roads;
● Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
The term of employment is from July 10, 2023, through December 22, 2023. This is a temporary, full-time non-exempt overtime eligible position scheduled to work forty (40) hours per week, Monday through Friday during regular business hours, with a possibility of extension to a permanent position at the end of six months. The pay range for this position is $27.40-$28.85 ($57,000-$60,000 annualized).

Compensation package includes:

● Paid Time Off benefits including 32 hours sick time and 3 paid holidays
● Eligible to participate in health, dental and vision plans the first of the month after 90 days of service
