Looking for the following in an applicant--
Patience, understanding, excellent communication skills, positive rapport with children (and their parents). Reliable & dependable. Ability to problem solve and think quickly. Previous experience teaching swimming is a plus for us, but we are also able to train and certify in multiple Red Cross courses including Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor.
Seahorse Swim School seeks instructors to commit to the program for the Spring and Summer months; we like to provide students the consistency to learn and offer familiar faces that greet them w. a smile. We are seeking seasonal employees from March to October annually. Its important that applicants list their relatable experiences in this field, education and work availability to be considered as really interested in the job opportunity.
Employees Must have a reliable mode of transportation.
SWIM INSTRUCTORS:
We teach out of Seascape Sports Club in Aptos (March- Oct)
Tues/Thurs afternoons, could add lessons Mon/Wed
Weekday afternoons 1/2pm-5:30/6pm.
Spring Saturday mornings 9am-12:30pm.
Summer June thru August have morning and afternoon shifts available. Will create schedule for you.
Fall Program: September only.
Tues/Thurs and Saturdays- Can add Mon/Wed. Will create schedule for you.
We can make our schedule based on your availability, but the above is the norm schedule. Shifts are usually 3-4 hours and sessions are usually twice a week, but we can also customize that. We can do split shifts. Obviously, consistency is key. What else is key is that the APPLICANT is completely responsible 100% for the shifts that are assigned. Looking for 2-3 swim instructors/lifeguards to join our Team. Extra hours are available in the office w. scheduling and assisting the owner in administrative and organizational tasks.
Education in early childhood development and experience working with children ages 6 months + and adults helps in teaching them to swim.
LIFEGUARDS: Applicants MUST show current LGT/CPR PRO certifications upon interview. Guarding gigs come w. a travel stipend for drive/time/fuel to get to the location. Lifeguards positions open from April till September all over the County from Aptos to Boulder Creek. Our Lifeguards go to various locations throughout the County.
Job Type: Part-time 15 - 25 hours/week/Summertime
Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour
Varies w. experience, certifications, dependability and knowledge of subject matter.

Prospective swim instructors will come watch a bit of the lesson prior and then get in and co teach w. us. to see how you like the facility, pool, students and our style of teaching and programming. We are ready to train new hires as soon as NOW on Tues/Thurs afternoons and/or Saturdays mornings. Training w. our team (even just a little bit) is essential to setting you up for success teaching for Seahorse Swim School.
Lifeguards will need to show current certifications and be able to demonstrate skills ongoing in any staff meetings or in service training.
