The JCCSF welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, identities, and abilities. While we’re proud to be an organization committed to Jewish culture and traditions, we also embrace and celebrate the diversity of our staff, participants, and the San Francisco community. Bring your enthusiasm, your openness, and your talents – everyone is welcome here. Urban and inclusive, the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco celebrates our vibrant city and its people. We explore Jewish culture and traditions as a pathway for joyful, meaningful living. We’re a community that welcomes everyone, using the power of gathering to share, inspire, support, and restore.

We are currently hiring teachers at all levels at our three preschool sites, two located in Inner-Richmond and one near Parkmerced. We have positions that begin May 30 and others that begin August 7, 2023. All positions are full-time and come with a generous benefits package which includes membership to the JCCSF gym.

Teachers in our program have opportunities for regular professional development through JCCSF Staff Development Days as well as outside the program via webinars and in-person workshops and conferences. The JCCSF also offers reimbursement for courses taken towards a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Teachers and Associate Teachers require the 12 core units of ECE courses dictated by the state of California, Lead Teachers require this plus an additional 3 units from a ECE supervision course. Assistant Teachers may be hired with only 6 units of the required ECE units with an agreement to complete 12 in the first year of hire.

Teachers need to be willing to learn our program policies and practices, including our Reggio-Emilia inspired curriculum and our Jewish education component. Our schools are play-based and include a good deal of outdoor learning, music, art studio, gardening, project, and inquiry work. All teachers should have proficiency in verbal and written communication as well as basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use multiple platforms regularly.

Teachers work in teams of 2-4 and we maintain a 1:6 ratio of teachers to children. Our programs serve children ages 2-5; diapering and toilet learning is a part of every teacher’s job. Our school year goes from August through July each year with breaks for Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring, Summer, and some Jewish holidays.

Early Childhood Education Program Vision Statement: Our vision is to be an innovative early childhood education program where children, families and educators collaborate to create enriched learning experiences. Our students delight in discovering an early love of learning.

Health & Safety: To keep staff and participants as safe and healthy as possible, all staff working on-site will be required to be vaccinated (COVID-19) and obtain at least one booster prior to beginning work. Please reach out to HR@jccsf.org if you have questions.
