A Living Library’s mission is to provide K-12 students and community members with garden-based learning centers and the opportunity to participate in greening their communities. We are seeking a Garden Educator to lead students in making and maintaining gardens in and around the Seneca Ecological Project and our established network of green spaces, 15-25 hours per week, to start immediately.
Responsibilities:
-Lead groups of K-12 students in afterschool and summer sessions in the gardens
-Collaborate on a program plan for garden-based activities
-Track attendance, hours,topics covered, and student projects
-Coordinate student activities with teachers and the local community
-Some garden and site maintenance independent of student activities
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience working with K-12 students from diverse backgrounds
Experience with gardening, landscaping, agriculture or related fields
Experience developing or planning educational programs
Bilingual Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Additional Requirements:
Our schools require fingerprinting and background checks
Rate: $20-25 hourly, depending on experience

This is a flexible role with a small non-profit working with SFUSD schools. There are other opportunities to get involved with the running and development of our organization; We can offer additional work if you’re able to take on administrative, garden management, outreach, design, or project management tasks.
