The purchasing assistant will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing products, services, or raw material from outside the country. The buyer must be able to identify opportunities for value-added purchases that will help IMPAK succeed in the marketplace. The hired candidate will have a choice of working out of Sebastian, Florida or Los Angeles, California.
This position will report to the Director of Materials Management and work closely with our Purchasing department, Accounting, Technical Director, QA and Receiving.
In this role, you will:
• Understanding the buyer’s company practices and procedures, including accounting standards and regulations
• Negotiating price, terms of sale, shipping arrangements, and other details of transactions with suppliers
• Evaluate and review the capabilities of more than 17 overseas suppliers and generate written reports and product information.
• Work with suppliers on providing shipping documents to freight forwarder
• Work with the purchasing department to prepare purchase orders for items that have been approved for purchase
• Work with marketing to upload products/services on multiple websites
• Requesting/Ordering samples of products for further evaluation by their company
• Conducting market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their products, and determine pricing strategies
• Establishing long-term business relationships with suppliers and fostering mutual trust, respect, and cooperation
• Monitor potential stock out caused by delivery delays and increase in sales
• Work closely with receiving, QA and accounting to monitor and document all defects (transportation damages and defective/non-compliant products)
• Perform troubleshooting on all invoice and price issues along with delivery related problems.
• Provide analysis on detailed cost comparisons.

Required Qualifications:
• Associates degree
• Minimum of one (1) years of experience in supply chain planning/purchasing
• Google Workspace
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
•
Travel required – This position has extensive training in our California facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Sage100 experience
• Bachelor’s degree or related experience
• Three (3) years of experience in supply chain planning/purchasing
We will consider an inexperienced but motivated individual.
Salary: $45-50K* possibly higher due to the cost of living in California and possibly lower if we decide to choose a highly motivated but less experienced individual
