SITUATION:
We are a family in San Ramon looking for a Vocational life skills Trainer and Caregiver for our Son, T.
T is 23 years old, non-verbal, autistic, and developmentally delayed. We are looking for someone who
will provide Training in Activities of Daily Living and Independent Living skills with the
support and guidance of T’s team. Individuals applying must have worked with Non-Verbal Autistic or Intellectually and Developmentally Delayed individuals who use sign language or Picture Exchange.
T is non-speaking and uses modified ASL signs, Picture icons, and iPad software to communicate. T loves nature, art, and music. He is continuing his training to be an Abstract Artist and learn Park Trail Clean-up skills. T sells his Abstract Art and has had some success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Personal care and support at home and in the community including Independent Living Skills: Helping him Clean his Bathroom, His Room, Doing his Laundry, Vacuuming, Cleaning in Kitchen and some basic Cooking, Shopping Skills using the Safeway near his home and learning other House Keeping Chores as necessary for more independence.
Activities of Daily Living includes helping him with dressing, grooming, and toileting on a schedule
Health and Fitness activities includes supervising scooter riding, basketball, and hikes
Support for community activities includes prepping T utilizing iPad software
Support for T to practice employment for trail clean-up working at two adjacent city parks within walking distance from T's home.
Ensure T’s safety when crossing streets since he does not understand safety protocols and needs reinforcement.
Facilitate daily routines and augmentative communication using iPad, Signs, and Picture Cards.
Paid training at the $34.00 hourly rate will be provided to learn iPad software and T's routines but you must have knowledge and experience working with Non-Verbal Autistic or Intellectually and Developmentally Delayed individuals.
Communicate with T’s team regarding performance on daily tasks and what you accomplished on your work shift.
EXPECTATIONS:
Two Care-giving Trainers are needed 7 days a week (Monday through Sunday)
Trainers can work between 5-6 hours per work day
Maximum hours per week are 30 hours per individual Trainer
Starting wage is $34.00 per hour paid even during training
Fingerprints Background Check, First Aid Training, and CPR Training required
Family will provide (KN 95 masks, gloves, and sanitizer as needed in the home)

There will be a 90 day try out period at the $34.00 per hour wage rate while you are training
The cost of Finger Printing will be reimbursed as a separate check after the 90 day try out period assuming you are hired and you work a minimum of 20 hours per week while completing the 90 day try out period.
