Job Description: Senior Marketing Manager, BATS Improv
Location: Hybrid with most day to day work virtual and select in person activities and meetings at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, CA and other sites in San Francisco
Employment Level: Part-time, estimated 20 hours per week, $25 to $40 per hour depending on experience
Flexibility: Some flexibility in location and hours, work includes some nights and weekends.

We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to help us level up our communication, promotion, and broader community engagement. Our ideal candidate believes in what we do and will seek out ways to better market our work. The Senior Marketing Manager will report to the Managing Director and work closely with senior leaders at BATS, including the Artistic Directors, Director of Corporate Improv, and Head of School. This role is substantial. Marketing work will cover planning, budgeting, and execution of all activities intended to grow audiences and the business.

Initial focus of the job will establish and optimize direct marketing, advertising and promotion, communications, and creation of publication and collateral needed to promote shows, the school, and training programs. Over time, the role will consider what’s working and could work, thoughtfully combining and expanding the most productive activities.

We will work with the candidate to prioritize the most impactful activities. Responsibilities include the following:

Own, update, execute and monitor annual marketing plan and budget
Social Media: Content generation and management with daily activation of BATS social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and build up our presence on other platforms such as TikTok and Linked In
Develop and execute BATS’ social media influencer strategy - create and manage the calendar, coordinate Instagram takeovers, and social media presence with coaches and company members
Direct Marketing: Develop and execute direct marketing plan including partnership and cross promotion including, on-site partners at Fort Mason and cultural, community and education partners for shows, classes and youth programs specific
Social media groups: Tailored plan identifying and executing target campaigns for specific products and groups
Advertising and promotion: Create and execute plan for advertising online and in print including calendar listings and digital ads
Quality control and schedule for all marketing publications and communications including print and digital materials such as weekly digital newsletter, website, external email communications and social media (monitor any staff tasked with specific deliverables eg. newsletter)
Commission, coordinate and distribute print and digital marketing materials including flyers for shows, @work, the school and community outreach (working with existing staff and/or external vendors as necessary)


We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates the following skills, knowledge and experience:

Planning and budgeting: Experience and track record creating and delivering a marketing plan on time and on budget
Marketing: Track record of impact in driving audience or customer acquisition through marketing and advertising campaigns
Essential: 2 - 3 years experience managing social media end to end including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn (and TikTok desirable)
Essential: Experience with social media management tools like Hootsuite and digital marketing tools such as Google Analytics
Essential: Direct Marketing: Track record of impact in targeting and working with partners on effective cross promotion
Essential: An analytical and strategic mindset: ability to pull relevant data from SM platforms such as Facebook and Google Analytics and an ability to interpret that data to adjust tactics and strategy
Essential: Experience managing digital ads platforms such as Google Ads and Facebook to maximize opportunities to bring in traffic
Essential: Experience programming SM campaigns and assets across a variety of platforms including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn
Desirable: Experience working with SM influencers: planning strategy, identification, engagement, guidance and advice to spot opportunities and boost participation and effectiveness
Essential: Content development and editorial: excellent written English, experience drafting copy and and communications tailored to specific audiences
Essential: Self-starter: is proactive, organized, disciplined and able to plan and work independently, able to reprioritize effectively
Essential: Collaborative and communicative: enjoys working as part of a small team and maintains regular channels of communication with team members
Essential: excellent command of spoken and written English
Essential: Proficiency with Zoom and Google Docs and comfortable working with web-based software such as CiviCRM
Essential: resilience, flexibility, creativity and innovation, does not give up easily
Essential: strong communication skills, is open, accessible and builds community
