Another Source’s client, Stanford University, is recruiting an Assistant Director of Product Marketing to join their team at the Hoover Institution in Palo Alto, CA. The Role: 

The Assistant Director of Product Marketing is a new role within the Hoover Institution’s growing Marketing & Communications team. This influential position will oversee the development and distribution of the product portfolio for the Institution. Working closely with the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Director serves a vital role in implementing and executing institutional outreach strategy, managing a growing pipeline of products and activity, and driving the achievement of day-to-day department priorities and long-term success. 



Leading and mentoring a team of product managers/specialists in optimizing Hoover’s extensive line of print, digital, video, and audio offerings is a core function of this position, along with developing new products that highlight the research output of Hoover’s fellowship. Collaborating with stakeholders, reaching key milestones, and conducting analysis will be important in measuring and reaching established goals.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$148,000 to $187,000 per annum. 



How you will spend your time: 

Develops the vision for high-level strategic product initiatives to meet business objectives for the Hoover Institution. 
Drive business development strategy to meet product portfolio goals. 
Lead research and analysis efforts. Guide organization to use the results strategically. 
Participate in university-wide and/or organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams.  
Establish the organization as a strategic partner and thought leader.  
Oversee the department's vendor relationships.  
Oversee multiple product budgets. 
Set departmental budget, goals and objectives in alignment with organizational goals. 
Manage the work of other employees, make hiring decisions, provide coaching, training and mentoring, manage performance and determine staffing needs.  
Develops, executes, and monitors the performance of product strategies.  
Updates line of products to optimize performance. 
Manages product release schedules to maximize impact. 
Collaborates with Channel Manager to target appropriate audiences and enhance effectiveness of distribution.  



What we would like to see from you: 

Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. 
Demonstrated ability to achieve an organization's vision, values and programs. 
Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence decision-makers across all levels of an organization. 
Proven track record of exceeding business goals. 
Demonstrated experience managing complex budgets requiring excellent analytical skills. 
Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills. 
Demonstrated experience presenting to senior management. 
Skilled at developing a staff of professionals. Includes selection, motivation, and leadership of staff, as well as evaluation and development.
