Association’s Mission: California Primary Care Association (CPCA) mission is to lead and position community clinics, health centers and networks through advocacy, education, and services as key players in the health care delivery system to improve the health status of their communities.

Purpose of Position: Coordinate and support the development and implementation of CPCA’s community health center (CHC) civic engagement program to educate and empower CHCs and diverse communities to become civically engaged to improve public health and wellbeing. The Civic Engagement Coordinator will work collaboratively with CHCs, Regional Clinic Consortia, and community-based organizations to establish a new infrastructure of statewide civic engagement capacity, increase voter engagement in targeted regions, and grow an informed base of voters to support and sustain CPCA’s civic engagement programs and advocacy activities. Position must live within the area specified. This position is grant funded, and the length of the assignment depends on renewed funding availability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Civic Engagement and Community Affairs team to implement statewide civic engagement strategy to create a culture of sustained advocacy across the health center network that is inclusive of health center leadership, staff and patients.
• Provide day-to-day support and coordination in Fresno to local community health centers, regional clinic consortia, and community-based organizations.
• Work closely with civic engagement staff to assist in development of localized integrated civic engagement plan and support implementation of the plan to meet set targets.
• Assist local CHC’s and regional consortia in recruiting and onboarding local community based- organizations to assist in civic engagement work.
• Work with local CBO’s on planning and execution of non-partisan voter outreach and get out the vote programs in the designated Fresno region.
• Work collaboratively with the Government Affairs team to integrate CPCA policy goals into the civic engagement strategy.
• Organize and participate in regular meetings and convenings with participating regional subgrantees.
• Regularly communicate progress to statewide stakeholders and identify potential challenges.

Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Self-starter, with strong project management abilities.
2. Solid time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
3. Ability to work with Latino and multi-ethnic, multi-generational communities.
4. Proficiency in speaking and writing in Spanish.
5. Strong interpersonal and professional ability when engaging with vendors and partners.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based software and applications.
8. Manage multiple projects, plan strategically, and adapt to frequent change in a fast-paced environment.
9. Implement, organize, and evaluate programs and projects.
10. Maintain a helpful attitude and collaborate with multi-departmental teams.
11. Ability to work remotely.
12. Spanish Speaking

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum two years of program or departmental support experience. Experience with community health centers, member-driven associations or non-profit organizations is also preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Association Expectation:
