Makkabi Law Group, a leading personal injury law firm, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling financial transactions, reconciling operating and trust accounts, and preparing disbursements. While experience with trust accounts is preferred, we are open to providing training for the right candidate.



Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Write checks and process payments to vendors, clients, and other third parties
Reconcile operating and trust accounts on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
Prepare financial disbursements for settlements and other financial obligations
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and produce monthly financial reports
Collaborate with attorneys and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and best practices
Perform other related duties as assigned or required


Qualifications:

Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred
2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
Experience with trust accounts preferred, but not required; training will be provided as necessary
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information
